The Oscars are tonight.
Every year, I try to watch all of the movies nominated for Best Picture (I mentioned this in Friday’s post as well).
As someone who is writing every day, grasping to find good stories all around me, I’ve found the movies that I watch to be a valuable guiding light. They are not only for my passive entertainment but have instead come to life in a new way, allowing me to learn from the very best about what makes a story compelling.
It’s almost pointless to rank movies like this or to try to pick a winner. They all offer something different—a different lesson, a different view, a different emotion. But at their core, they provide us with the one thing we’re seeking—a momentary escape from reality.
That being said, I tried to rank these movies anyway. They are all well above average and in my opinion, some are nearly perfect.
Without further ado, here is my ranking of the Oscar movies:
Agree? Disagree? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
